Check out highlights and photos from the previous Ghana trips below!
Zoe, Ghana '16"I had been struggling in finding something I was passionate about and Ghana made me realize my passion for travel and service. This trip opened my sheltered eyes to the new culture and way of life there. My best memory from the trip was visiting Wisdom Academy in Kitase and talking to the young girls about confidence."

What Students SayBen, Ghana '16"The people are what I will never forget. To be able to share our ideas and still keep in touch after the trip is what makes the experience so special...I am taking classes in college related to global studies as well. The ability to immerse yourself in a new culture and create a new family are just two of the greatest aspects of this trip."

Jillian, Ghana '16"Working with the local organizations taught me the importance of partnerships. Overall, my experiences in Ghana have made me a better global citizen. I feel that I am more capable now, with the connections and experiences I've built, to better serve my local and global community."

- Ghana 2018 -
In 2018, Operation Wisdom took 15 students and 3 teachers to Ghana once again. This time they traveled around to three different locations: Cape Coast (the south), Larabonga (the north), and Kitase (the east). The 2018 team met with several established partners as well as met with some new organizations to see if they would be a good fit! They spent time with Challenging Heights, Global Mamas, Hoops Care, Nkwa, Songtaba, Pure Home Water, the Bambininye Community School, and Wisdom Academy. The group toured Cape Coast Castle to learn more about Ghana's history and had great conversations with both non-profit leaders and locals about what community development, sustainability, and education looks like. Check out the photos below!
- Ghana 2016 -
One thing that makes Operation Wisdom's Global Expeditions different from other youth travel programs is the preparation that students undertake prior to departure. You can see part of that preparation--from seminars to Skype visits--in the photos below! In 2016, fourteen students and three leaders primarily visited the central and eastern regions of Ghana, meeting with Global Partners like One Love Foundation, S.A.B.R.E. Trust, Hoops Care, Challenging Heights, Roots Yard, and Wisdom Academy. With these amazing Global Partners, the students learned about poverty, sanitation, human trafficking, education, community development, sustainability, Ghanaian Culture, and, of course, much much more.
- Ghana 2014 -
In 2014, twelve students and two leaders travel to Ghana for the first time. Little did they know that they would be planting an idea and be the start of what would become a 501(C)(3) non-profit with hundreds of members. They experienced Ghanaian culture first hand and saw the importance of education in sustainable community development. Check out the pictures below for more highlights!
